from:www.dnp.go.th

National Park is an area that contains natural resource of ecological importance or unique beauty such as beautiful scenery, waterfall, caves, and mountains, or flora and fauna of special importance.

National Parks of Thailand offer the visitors tremendous variety of attractions, in addition, they consists of ecologically, economically and scientifically valuable plants and animals. Most of Thailand National Parks are blessed with natural beauty and historical importance. The geology, landscape and natural beauty of the parks was recognized by visitor, both locally and internationally. Their appearances are self-interpretive.

National Parks, in the sense of protected areas, play significant roles in maintaining ecological stability and preserving biological diversity. These protected areas also are excellent places for recreation and education. Up to now, The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has established 110 national parks .

According to the necessity and importance of conservation of biological and ecological diversity of nature and resource, pushed the Royal Forest Department to establish many national parks covering every part of country, from the highest peak of mountain in the Doi Inthanon National Park to the lowest area of river and sea such as Krabi National Park continuously covering sea coast and mid-sea of the Surin Islands National Park.

Regarding the diversity of species and genetics, actually the Thai academic knowledge of plant and animal species is very limited and consequently sometime is the cause of pitfall of nature and resource management. However, the conservation of natural habitats of these species and genetics in the national park boundaries throughout the country could make a confidence to our children that some varieties of wild species would be conserved at some degree. In addition, some academic research promotion is parallelly proceeded and hoped that one day Thailand would be ready and able to efficiently use this nature and biological resources diversity.

Another valued nature and resource of Thai national parks is the natural-born things which are very unique in the world or so called the natural and resource uniqueness of geological form, for example the 75 million years of shell cemetery of the Nhopharat-Thara-Phi Phi Islands National Park, the James Bond Island of the Phang Nga National Park, the exotic stalactite cave of the Jalermratanakosin National Park, Hin Ngam beach of Taru Tao National Park, the button rock terrace and cracked rock terrace of Phu Hin Rongra National Park, the cliff rock of Rom Sak Cliff and the right place of the 3-leaf pine tree on the cliff of Phu Kradeung National Park.

These prominent of nature and resources, if be destroyed, we could not recreate them by a big money at all and also our proudest possession of these nature and resources would be gone forever. The other side of these valued nature and resources which we don’t have too much in the Thai national parks are the natural and resource culture of original communities. For example Chaw Le of Surin Islands National Park, Taru Tao National Park and Lanta Islands National Park, Sa Kai Wild Negrito of Taleban National Park , or the mountain tribe community which the traditional of living style and culture of these communities would gradually dilute, so the left communities are the uncomparable valued thing that we must conserve.

And the last thing is the historical nature and resources which exists here since the age of prior historical record, such as color paint picture at Pha Tam National Park or evidence and dinosaur fossil at Phu Wiang National Park or even some historical evidence which is very important for our nation appearing on many national parks, for example Khuha Khareuhash Throne at Khaow Sam Roi Yod National Park, Phra Nang Raue Lom at Priow Waterfall National Park and the political jail at Taru Tao National Park. Therefore, these nature and resources conserving for our children in Thai national parks are very difficult for us to evaluate them as a value of money.

And ‘the oldest national park over the years and with 500 km of hiking trails, large waterfalls, virgin forests and nearly 300 species of birds.
Phang Nga Bay National Park is one of the most beautiful in the world for lovers of water and islands. This is a karst area and marine gastropods Stark, the column is dyed to grow from the soil and water. There are caves, traditional villages and lots of green here and is located 100 km from the city of Phuket. Kayaking in Phang Nga Bay National Park is particularly good.

4. Ang Thong National Marine Park

Ang Thong archipelago is a dream of Koh Samui and Surat Thani. Rarely visited Thailand in the order of years the great parks, usually because of inaccessibility. Samui is very popular and often even kayaks in many berries. You can hike to the top of some of the islands and campsites near the headquarters of the park.

5. Erawan National Park

6. Erawan National Park

Kanchanaburi, aos most famous park is home to beautiful Erawan Falls, a huge waterfall on seven floors at 1500 m. Visitors can swim in pools and walk along the path of the falls. The rest of the park is functioning well and a series of caves, caverns Phrathat. The park is very busy during the holidays.

7. Doi Inthanon National Park

The highest in Thailand, aos National Park has reached a point of over 2560 m altitude. The mountain itself is fairly common in its heyday, but as you can go so far because of the research station there. In the unity of the mountain are the king and queen, stupas years, while the sides of the falls and a large degree of accommodation are.

The least visited national parks in Thailand

8. Mu Koh Surin

Often called simply Surin National Park, the park covers the north of the border between Thailand and Burma in the Andaman Sea. Most of the park, which stretches AOS from the lake, where there are five islands, including North Island South Island and three grandchildren. The diving here is excellent.

This region of Thailand is largely invisible in the far south, and against the territory of Malaysia. It includes many islands in the province of Satun, and includes the popular island of Koh Lipe. You can also stay at Koh Tarutao and Adang.
contains a large cantiformación General

Ramkhamhaeng National Park in the province of Sukhothai, is surrounded by neighborhoods Kirim, Ban Dan Lan Hoi, the capital of the province of Sukhothai. The park is also known as Khao Luang by many locals. Covers an area of about 341 km square and 213,125 rai. Khao Luang is an important source of water for their “environment. The park is also the father of the natural beauty of the mountains of Khao Luang, Sai Rung waterfall, vegetable garden, and savanna is located at the top of the beach of Khao Luang.

History is another important element of the Ramkhamhaeng National Park. Many people believe Sukhothai), was the first capital of Thailand (13 to 14 century. Sukhothai Historical Park, the most important town of this ancient former capital funds actually the Ramkhamhaeng National Park in north-east of the beach of Khao Luang. Many ancient structures were built in Khao Luang, too. The area of Ramkhamhaeng National Park is not even the famous Sukhothai stone inscription, I quoted the King Pa Khun Ramkhamhaeng, the great king of time – “At the direction of the head during sleep (that) south in the city of Sukhothai, before Kuti (monks ‘Residences), Wihan (Congregation for the Laity in the room Theravada Wat Thai), the revered monks, dams and canals. E’ coconut watermelon , mango and tamarind groves. There are also waterfalls, and Pra Kapungo Phi god of the mountain (Khao Luang), which dominates all the spirits of this area. What should be the leader of Sukhothai standards of pay for ghosts when the mood properly fed, the city is still in a good mood without protection, and the city is gone.

Sukhothai registration is further evidence of important, even sacred, relationship between people in the capital of Thai origin and the natural environment of the Ramkhamhaeng National Park

In 1974, the forest department has sent letters to the authorities of the province of Sukhothai, including forestry officials in the province and invited them to visit the area of Khao Luang. The purpose of this survey is aimed to determine whether this region or a nature reserve or national park. Sukhothat authorities of the province, with the Royal Forestry Department Unit Tak, should, at a suggested Khao Luang National Park.
Most of the parks in the contours of the mountains of Khao Luang. This mountain is in a north-south. Khao Luang is like a giant ant hill in the middle of a rice field, since it is surrounded by weak fields. The water on the beach at Khao Luang following is essential for crops. These waters are also dependent on the Yom River in the east and the Ping River in the West. Another remarkable topography of the park are the 4 major peaks on the beach of Khao Luang Khao Phu Ka, March Khao Phra Ya, Khao Jedi and Pha Na Rai
Time

Countries at the top of Khao Luang is famous for its climate, year-round cool. Overall, the fastest time in the park during the cold season (October to January to visit), but the best time to visit Sai Rung Waterfall is) during the rainy season (June to September.
Mu Ko Chang National Park is a collection of over 40 islands, large and small. The archipelago is located in the Gulf of Thailand, located about 8 km. the coast of Trat province. The main island of Ko Chang is the third largest island of Thailand after Phuket and Koh Samui and is about 30 kilometers long and about 14 km wide. The other main islands of the group are: Ko Chang Noi, Ko Khlum, Ko Wai, Ko Lao Ya, Ko Ko May and, if rank. The park has received the status of National Park December 31, 1982 the 45th National Park in Thailand The park covers a total area of 650 km2, of which about 458 km2, or 70% is marine.

Geography

Mu Ko Chang National Park is located in south-east of Thailand, near the cambodian border. The island is parallel to the coast and appears very mountainous from the shore because of the mountains on the border with the island. The spine is composed of several summits, the highest Khao Lan, Khao Chom Prasat, Khao Khlong Mayom, Khao Salak Phet and Khao Yai, which has reached the highest peak at an altitude of 743m. The rocks of the island is mainly granite, and dates from around 200 million years ago. Geology produces a very mountainous island, but with rounded slopes rather than cliffs.

The island of Koh Chang has many streams and rivers that are fed by rain collected on the slopes of ‘island. Because of the large amount of rain here, these flows are very clean and supply water all year. The rivers on the island early Khlong Son, Khlong Mayom, Khangkhao Khlong, Khlong Bang Bao, Khlong Phrao, Khlong Khlong Nonsi and Chaiyachet. This mix of mountains and streams produces some very interesting waterfall is the most remarkable that Mayom, PHLU Klong, Klong Nonsi, Khiri Phet and Khlong Nung waterfalls.
Time

The rainy season extends from May to October. And ‘the south-west monsoon during the dry season runs from November to February. The dry season is the north-west monsoon, which cools the temperature. Summer starts from March to April. This season, the equator the sun goes into the wind. The climate is hot, especially in the month of April.
Flora and Fauna

The mountains are covered with dense tropical evergreen forests, due to the historically low level of housing on the island largely untouched (until recently, when more people move here) The main species Dipterocarpus alatus, D. turbinatus, Anisoptera notes, Hopea odorata, Malayan Irvingia neriifolius Podocarpus, Diospyrosspp. Castanopsis spp. Croton spp. Oncosperma horrida, Caryota mitis. Daemonorops spp. Korthals grandis, Bauhinia Mermaid, sumatrana Freycinet, Platycerium coronarium Amomum spp. And Panduria Boesenbergia Kaempferia pulchra. Around the villages of Salak Phet, Salak Khok, Khlong Son, Khlong Phrao Bay are areas of forest beach. The dominant species are here BADAMIER, Calophyllum inophyllum, leucadendra Melaleuca, Eugenia grandis, E. spicata, and odoratissimus Pandanus. In those areas more secure, especially when fresh water from sea to produce brackish water, fairly large area of mangrove exist. This mangrove forest is a combination of tree species like Rhizophora mucronata, R. Ceriops decandra apiculata, C. Tagalog, Bruguier gymnorrhiza, B. parviflora, Avicennia alba, Xylocarpus granatum, X. moluccensis, Hibiscus and marshmallow odollum Cerbera.

Wildlife surveys in 1992 recorded 29 species in the national park. The animals were caught, wild boar, deer, bear, Slow Loris, Macaque, Langur, the silver, the eastern mole, mongoose, small Indian civet, Java, and several species of bats, squirrels, rats and mice. The list of birds of the park currently has 74 species, including 61 residents. The most commonly observed include swallowing coral reefs in the Pacific, Great Egret, Yellow-vented Bulbul, Nightjar, Pacific, White-breasted Waterhen, Green Imperial Pigeon and Oriental Pied Hornbill. Visitors migration to the islands are little blue heron, Greater Sand Plover, White-winged Tern, Brown Noddy, Black-neck Oriole, Pale-legged Leaf Warbler, Arctic Warbler, and Swallow. Two common breeding visitor to the islands have belonged to the wings and a blue beret Pita Pita, whistles often very pronounced in the early morning and evening. The way in which commonly include Blue-throated Flycatcher, Blue and White Flycatcher Warbler and Eastern Europe. The research team has discovered 42 species of reptiles and amphibians. Given the increasing frequency are, mud turtle, Malaysia, India lizard, water monitor lizard, lizard face, blue white garden, Tokay Gecko, on the east side of Indian grass skink Brown, Python, racers, rat snake, king cobra, the toad Common asia, Paddy green frog, frog, chorus frog and the frog Bulter Rugosed. A species endemic here and nowhere else is an appropriate name Kohchang frog (Rana kohchangae).

Ko Chang islands are far from the rivers of the continent, and so the waters around the islands is very clear and free of debris. Thus, the beaches of white sand and crystal clear waters and rich marine life are clean. Occur in protected areas of coral reefs, with many species of corals and coral, Laminar column Staghorn coral reefs, giant clams, sea anemones, corals, starfish, fish and algae. Biodiversity should be seen in many places around the park, particularly good sites Ko Chang Noi, Ko Yuak, Ko Man Nok, Ko Khlum, Wai Ko Ko Lao Ya, Koh Ngam, Koh Rang, Koh Kra, I along the east coast Koh Chang island. Another good place to explore the underwater world is about the remains of the Thai warships “Songkhla” and “Chonburi” in Salak Phet bay on the southern tip of the island.
